The Institute of Equality and Diversity Practitioners is delighted to announce the completion of the pilot of members’ professional assessment. Four members are awarded full membership status at Level 2. These are the first ever awards in the UK to assess evidence-based professional competence in the field of equality and diversity. Whilst there are degree courses and myriad equality and diversity standards, never before has an independent body assessed and evaluated professional practitioners’ knowledge and application of UK equality law. The assessment panel represented UK business, education and the equality and diversity professional sectors. Panel members were Irene Gedalof of London Metropolitan University, Simon Langley of National Grid Kate Hinton and Paul Carswell of the IEDP Board. External validation of the process was provided by Stuart Speeden, Edge Hill University.
Now more than ever, it is essential to have a professional qualification for those who provide equality, diversity and human rights advice and support to every business sector. The Institute’s professional qualification is a great benefit to practitioners and employers. Practitioners have a specialist qualification and continuing professional development path. Employers can trust a qualification that is developed and delivered by the sector’s professional body.
You can find out more about our accreditation process and professional qualification at the AGM of the Institute. This takes place on Friday 22 July 2011 in Central London. Our keynote speaker is Michael Rubenstein of Equal Opportunity Review. To book a place contact info@iedp.org.uk
