Round Table - Preparing for the Equality Act 2010
30.03.2010
Practitioners want to prepare for implementing the provisions of the pending Equality Act, whatever shape it may finally take. This is the first in a series of round table events organised by the Institute to explore the implications of the Equality Bill for all business sectors.

Why attend?
The Institute organises round table events so that practitioners in all business sectors may explore and discuss issues of professional interest; share experience and expertise; and benefit from continuing professional development in a peer-to-peer setting.

The landscape of equality and human rights is changing. This round table event will support practitioners to seize new opportunities that deliver effective change. We will seek solutions to key questions: How must policies and practice change to deliver equality, diversity and human rights outcomes? How can we deliver positive change in a period of financial constraint?

A speaker from the Equality and Human Rights Commission will provide an overview of their thinking and advise how practitioners can assist the EHRC with enforcement. As practitioners, we will use the remainder of the session to explore how we can share information, knowledge and skills with each other so that the equality and human rights agenda can move forward.

Speakers
  • Barbara Cohen, Discrimination Law Consultant, Vice Chair Discrimination Law Association
  • Equality and Human Rights Commission (speaker to be confirmed)
  • Linda Bellos OBE will chair the event.

Who should attend?
All member and non-member practitioners who wish to develop their learning about equality and human rights law.
