The Government has announced a further consultation on the Equality Act 2010 Public Sector Duties, that risks substantially downgrading their impact and effectiveness.

The Government proposes to remove significant elements of the public sector specific duties in relation to the Equality Act 2010. The deadline for comments to the Government Equalities Office on the draft specific duties regulations is Thursday 21 April 2011.
This urgent announcement contains information about (1) two IEDP consultation meetings on the Government’s proposals for the public sector specific duties; and (2) a request for your feedback on the IEDP’s formal response to the proposed duties. I know our deadlines are very tight. The Government‘s deadlines make this inevitable.
